St. Who Carried the Eucharist Through an Invasion

Saint Hyacinth of Poland was a Dominican missionary known as the “Apostle of the North,” carrying the Catholic faith across vast regions of Eastern and Northern Europe. A disciple of Saint Dominic, Hyacinth devoted his life to preaching the Gospel and establishing Dominican communities. He became especially remembered for his profound devotion to the Holy Eucharist and the Blessed Virgin Mary. According to tradition, when invading forces threatened a city, Hyacinth rescued the Blessed Sacrament from the church. As he fled, he also took a statue of Our Lady with him, miraculously carrying both to safety across a river. Saint Hyacinth reminds us that when everything around us is collapsing, we must cling first to Christ and remain close to His Mother.
