While many celebrate Independence Day on July 4, the Church honors Saint Elizabeth of Portugal, a queen whose greatest victories were won through prayer, mercy, and peacemaking. Despite enduring a difficult marriage, she remained faithful to Christ, reconciled her husband and son, cared tirelessly for the poor, and repeatedly prevented wars through her courage and humility. Her life reminds us that true power is found not in force, but in forgiveness and sacrificial love.
