The Saint Who Proved You Don’t Need to Do Great Things to Be Holy
Thursday, October 1, 2026
Saint Thérèse of Lisieux became one of the most beloved saints in the Catholic Church without founding an order, traveling the world, or accomplishing anything the world would consider extraordinary. Entering the Carmelite convent at only 15, Thérèse discovered what she called her “Little Way”—becoming holy by performing ordinary actions with extraordinary love, humility, and complete trust in God. She died from tuberculosis at only 24, but her autobiography, Story of a Soul, spread her spirituality throughout the world. Remarkably, she became a patroness of missionaries despite never leaving her convent and was later declared a Doctor of the Church. Saint Thérèse reminds us that sainthood is not reserved for those capable of extraordinary achievements. Every small sacrifice, hidden act of kindness, and ordinary duty can become an offering of tremendous love to God. f96664d7-462e-4003-a095-12d904e… Subscribe to Catholic Voices and Prayers for more powerful stories of the saints and the Catholic faith.
