What Are the 3 Holy Oils of the Catholic Church?

Have you ever noticed the small vessels of oil kept in a Catholic church? The Catholic Church uses three Holy Oils: the Oil of Catechumens, Oil of the Sick, and Sacred Chrism. Each has a distinct purpose. The Oil of Catechumens prepares and strengthens those approaching Baptism. The Oil of the Sick is used in the Sacrament of Anointing of the Sick. Sacred Chrism is used in Baptism, Confirmation, Holy Orders, and other solemn acts of consecration. Traditionally during Holy Week, the bishop celebrates the Chrism Mass with his priests.
