Why Can’t I Just Worship God at Home?
Description
Why can't Catholics simply worship God privately at home? You absolutely should have a private relationship with God through daily prayer, Scripture, the Rosary, and personal devotion. But Christianity was never intended to be simply “me and Jesus.” From the earliest days of the Church, Christians gathered for prayer and the “breaking of the bread.” Catholics continue that apostolic pattern through the Holy Mass. And Mass gives us something private prayer at home cannot replace: Jesus Christ truly present in the Holy Eucharist—Body, Blood, Soul, and Divinity. That's why Sunday Mass is an obligation for Catholics, except when a serious reason excuses attendance. Private prayer and communal worship aren't competitors. We need both. Pray privately every day. And come together with the Body of Christ for the Holy Sacrifice of the Mass.
