If You’re in Love, Is Sex Before Marriage Still a Sin?

Moral Theology & Christian Living1:27

Description

If a couple genuinely loves each other, remains faithful, and already intends to marry, why does the Catholic Church still teach that sex before marriage is sinful? Because Catholicism doesn't believe sex is bad. It believes sex is sacred. Sexual intimacy expresses a complete gift of self that belongs within the permanent covenant of marriage. Intending to marry someone isn't the same as having already made that lifelong vow before God. Real Christian love also seeks the eternal good of the other person. If you've already fallen into sexual sin, don't despair. Stop. Go to Confession. Establish boundaries. Avoid near occasions of sin. Begin again. Chastity isn't the rejection of love. It is learning to love according to God's design. Subscribe to Catholic Voices and Prayers for clear Catholic teaching on love, marriage, chastity, Confession, and the Sacraments.
