Do beads need a blessing? #catholic #prayer #rosary

Description

Does your Rosary need to be blessed before you can receive the spiritual benefits of praying it? No. The grace associated with praying the Rosary does not depend upon whether the physical beads have been blessed. You can pray the Rosary using unblessed beads, your fingers, or no beads at all. So why have a Rosary blessed? A blessed Rosary becomes a blessed sacramental—a sacred object set apart for devotional use through the prayer and blessing of the Church. Having your Rosary blessed is therefore a beautiful and traditional Catholic practice. But sacramentals are not magic. A blessed Rosary sitting unused in a drawer does not replace prayer, while an unblessed Rosary can still help you sincerely meditate upon the mysteries of Jesus Christ and pray with Our Lady. So if you have a new Rosary that hasn't been blessed yet: Don't wait. Pray it. Then ask a priest to bless it when you have the opportunity.
